THE APPROACH

Shot the way
the game moves.

Shot the way
the game moves.

Hockey doesn't slow down for a camera. The approach has to match the pace of the game — handheld, reactive, always moving. The gear follows the play, not the other way around.

Every session is one person, one camera, one chance to get the shot. No crew, no lighting rig, no setup time. Just the game happening and the lens on it.

01

Run-and-gun, always handheld

No tripods, no rigs, no fixed positions. The camera moves with the play — down the boards, behind the net, along the glass.

02

One person on the ice level

Rink-side and behind the glass. Not press box overhead. The footage feels like you're in the game because the camera is as close to it as possible.

03

Edited for how the game felt

Not just what happened — how it felt in the building. The pacing of the edit matches the tempo of the game, not a generic highlight format.

04

Fast turnaround

Game film and highlights delivered quickly. Coaches and players shouldn't wait a week to review footage or relive a section final.

EQUIPMENT

Built for fast environments.

Built for fast environments.

Hockey is low light, fast movement, and unpredictable action. The gear is chosen to handle all three without slowing down to compensate for conditions.

Hockey is low light, fast movement, and unpredictable action. The gear is chosen to handle all three without slowing down to compensate for conditions.

PRIMARY CAMERA

Sony FX30

Full-frame sensor, exceptional low-light performance. Handles the fluorescent rink lighting without noise compromise at higher ISOs.

PRIMARY LENS

Sony 17-70mm F/2.8 Tamron

Fast aperture across the zoom range. Wide enough for rink-side angles, long enough to compress action from the other end.

STABILIZATION

In-body + Gimbal or Handheld

IBIS plus handheld technique. Gimbals add cinematic properties to footage. The footage needs to respond as fast as the play.
